Our History

Father and Son

Stanley J. ("Jack") Steadman founded Stan's Office Technologies – then called Stan's Office Machines – on June 1, 1960, after a stint in the Air Force. Stan brought his father, Stanley H. Steadman, a typewriter service technician, into his new business of selling and servicing adding machines, cash registers, and typewriters. The company offered its customers the best and most advanced technology of the time, like Victor adding machines and Royal typewriters.

A Third Generation

Yet another generation made its presence known when Stan's oldest son, Mark, joined the business. With a college background in mechanical engineering, he saw Stan's through changing times and technologies, always staying a step ahead of the competition. Stan's was one of the first providers to sell memory typewriters, electronic cash registers, and thermal fax machines.

The Digital Age

Tony, Mark's younger brother, also came on board in the 1980s. An Information Systems specialist, he automated the business and kept it at the cutting edge of digital technology, so that in addition to copiers, printers, and other "traditional" equipment, Stan's Office Technologies now provides Internet service, computer networking (including file servers, switches, and routers), and computer repair to a wide range of customers; these services now account for almost half the business.

Our Mission

Exceeding customer expectations remains the focus of our over 30 dedicated employees. Our full-time, certified network technicians provide the fastest response time in the area, providing services ranging from printer/copier repair to wireless Internet connections. "Even our long-time customers are still amazed at how quickly we respond to an office in need," says Service Manager Dave Wisowaty. "And our preventive maintenance programs provide maximum uptime."

Stan's Office Technologies combines its world-class service with state-of-the-art technology from Intel, Microsoft, Novell, Cisco, Ricoh, Lexmark, and more.

"With today's digital copiers, all-in-one multifunction units, and wireless communications, we’re finding many companies are misled by uneducated competitors," says Mark Steadman, President. He adds, "We use a consultative approach, so that the solution is centered around the customer’s objectives. Our customers are less intimidated by technology after they see their offices running more efficiently, while meeting their budget objectives."

Mission Statement:

To use a consultative approach to provide solutions centered around the customer’s objectives, at a fair price. To respond quickly and provide maximum uptime. To treat employees and customers the way we want to be treated. To maintain integrity and honesty in all our business dealings with customers and manufacturers alike.
