This site is worth spending some time on.  Scroll down the left side of the home page and click on “surnames” under the heading “Reference”.  Also try the heading “Heraldry” on the left side and you will find a dictionary and clip art samples.  This site will take you to the James Wolf heraldry page where you can type in your name and see if they have an example to show you with some historical information about your family.
